Ketoconazole 2% Mekophar Skin Cream is used to treat fungal infections of the skin and mucous membranes.

Indications

• Treats fungal skin infections such as ringworm, jock itch, athlete’s foot, hand fungus, cutaneous Candida infections, and pityriasis versicolor (tinea versicolor).
• Treats seborrheic dermatitis, a condition associated with the presence of the fungus Pityrosporum ovale.

Composition

Each 5g of cream contains:

• Ketoconazole 0.1g
• Excipients: Disodium edetate, Sodium metabisulfite, Polysorbate 80, Vaseline, Cetostearyl alcohol, Paraffin oil, Glycerine, Propylene glycol, Purified water.

Properties

Ketoconazole is an imidazole derivative with strong antifungal activity against dermatophytes such as Epidermophyton floccosum, Trichophyton, Microsporum, and various yeasts, particularly effective against Pityrosporum species. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes, altering the lipid composition of the fungal cell membrane.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
• Do not apply to the eyes.
