Lotusone Medipharco Cream of Medipharco Pharmaceutical Joint Venture Joint Stock Company, main ingredient betamethasone 9.6mg is a drug used to reduce inflammation in corticosteroid-responsive skin diseases.
The drug is also effective in conditions that are less responsive to corticosteroids such as scalp psoriasis and chronic plaque psoriasis of the hands and feet, but does not include widespread plaque psoriasis.
Ingredient: Betamethasone dipropionate: 9.6mg
Use:
Betamethasone dipropionate is a synthetic corticosteroid containing fluoride.
The drug acts locally and produces rapid and lasting reactions in eczema and all types of dermatitis, including atopic eczema, photodermatitis, lichen planus, lichen simplex, pruritic papules, lupus. discoid erythema, fat necrosis, pretibial myxedema, and skin erythema.
The drug is also effective in conditions that are less responsive to corticosteroids such as scalp psoriasis and chronic plaque psoriasis of the hands and feet, but does not include widespread plaque psoriasis.
Pharmacodynamic:
Betamethasone is a synthetic corticosteroid, with very strong glucocorticoid effects, accompanied by negligible effects on salt and water metabolism. 0.75 mg of betamethasone has an anti-inflammatory effect equivalent to approximately 5 mg of prednisolone.
Betamethasone has anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic and anti-allergic effects.
The drug is used orally, injected, locally injected, inhaled or applied to treat many diseases requiring corticosteroids, except in cases of adrenal insufficiency where hydrocortisone must be used in combination with fludrocortisone.
Because it has little effect of Mineralocorticoids, betamethasone is very suitable in pathological cases where water retention is disadvantageous. At high doses, betamethasone has an immunosuppressive effect.
Pharmacokinetics:
Betamethasone is easily absorbed when used topically.
When applied, especially if covered with a bandage or when the skin is broken or when rectal enema, enough betamethasone may be absorbed for the whole body.
Betamethasone is rapidly distributed into all tissues in the body. The drug crosses the placenta and may be excreted in small amounts into breast milk.
Betamethasone is extensively bound to plasma proteins, mainly to globulins and to a lesser extent to albumin.
Betamethasone is less protein-bound than hydrocortisone.
Their half-lives also tend to be longer; Betamethasone is a long-acting glucocorticoid. Metabolized mainly in the liver, but also in the kidneys and excreted in the urine.
