Mupirocin is an antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, acting as a bacteriostatic agent at low concentrations and a bactericidal agent at higher concentrations. It has a narrow antibacterial spectrum, primarily targeting Gram-positive aerobic bacteria. Most strains of Staphylococcus species (e.g., S. aureus, S. epidermidis, S. saprophyticus) are sensitive to it.

Directions for Use of Bacterocin Ointment
- How to Use: Apply directly to the affected skin area. For external use only; avoid applying around the eyes or directly into the eyes. Not suitable for use on intravenous catheter sites.
- Dosage:
- For children ≥1 year old and adults: Apply 2-3 times daily for up to 10 days. You may cover the area with a gauze dressing if desired.
- For children <1 year old: Not recommended, as safety and efficacy have not been established.
- No dose adjustment is necessary for patients with liver or kidney impairment.
